Things to Know Before NatCon 18
NatCon 18 is just around the corner and the excitement is high around the DATIS office. This year marks the eighth NatCon conference for DATIS, and this year’s lineup is set to be one of the best yet. With that said, we wanted to share some helpful information about NatCon 18 and National Harbor to make sure that all attendees have an unforgettable experience this year.
Can’t Miss Sessions
NatCon 18 is showcasing its ability to attract big names this year by hosting some brilliant behavioral health thought leaders, executives, advocates, and experts. With so many great sessions and workshops going on in a limited amount of time, it’s important for attendees to have a rough schedule in mind so that they can see as many as possible. To help simplify this process, we’ve created a shortlist of must see sessions this year.
The Session: From Boomers to Millennials: What They Want That We Don't Deliver
When: Monday, April 23 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
On average, 10,000 Baby Boomers a day are reaching the age of retirement. At the same time, millennials continue to grow their presence throughout the behavioral health space. This panel discussion will address the needs and wants of today’s generations, and what executives can do to better address them.
The Session: HR Trends and Solutions that Work!
When: Monday, Apr. 23, 2:45-3:45pm
DATIS’ very own Erik Marsh will be moderating an intimate panel discussion regarding the most pressing HR issues currently facing the behavioral health industry, and the various solutions that some of the industry’s most innovative leaders have implemented to address them. The session will include two experienced behavioral health executives, and touch on issues such as recruiting, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance.
The Session: View Vulnerability in a New Way
When: Tuesday, April 24th 8:30 - 9:30am
Brené Brown is not only a New York Times best-seller with her latest book Braving the Wilderness, but she also has one of the top five most viewed TED talks of all-time with her life-changing presentation of “The Power of Vulnerability.” Dr. Brown takes the stage Tuesday morning to argue that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather our most accurate measure of courage.
The Session: Believe in Second Chances!
When: Wednesday, April 25 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
In September 2000, Kevin Hines is leapt off the Golden Gate Bridge. Over 2,000 people have used the bridge to take their lives, but Hines is of the less than 1% that have lived to tell their story. Over the last 18 years, Hines has earned countless awards and praise for his ability to touch audiences around the world with his compelling story about second chances. Look out for his session Wednesday morning.
Other Conference Activities
At NatCon 18, there’s much to do aside from all the general sessions, workshops, TEDtalks, book signings, and movie screenings. We’ve listed a few of the events NatCon is hosting throughout the conference for attendees to enjoy.
Activity: Games People Play
Where: Various Booths
NatCon understands that some attendees may need a little break from their hectic conference schedules. Fortunately, various games will be spread out throughout the conference booths for attendees to play and unwind. They’ll have Ping Pong (booth 236), Billiards (booth 852), Bocce Ball (booth 142), and chess (booth 1042).
Activity: Pet a Pup
Where: Booth 1024
Nothing beats a room full of puppies. To combat the usual conference chaos, NatCon 18 attendees can head to booth 1024 and hang out with some adorable puppies.
Where: Booth 100
With constant sessions and workshops taking place, attendees will be in need of a place to rest, relax, and recharge. Fortunately, there will be an Oxygen Bar located at Booth 100, where all NatCon 18 attendees can take a breather.
